- List of Ruputer applications tested on onHand -

Testimony from Werner HABEL :

Ruputris
Works. Only problem is the joystick. It moves the stones too fast, so that clicking it one will result in turning the stone one or more times. Should be easy to correct by making a very short delay between the possible inputs.

Maziacs
Dont works. The man does not move. Spiders are too fast.

Digipet
Seems to work. All menues work properly. But I did not test all functions. I am not a Tamagochi-fan. Maybe the digipet lifes shorter on onhand, because of prozessor-speed :-)

Astro
Seems to work. A screen starts, where you can enter a date an time, an then you get a circle where you can see some dates for some planets. If you move the joystick, you see the information of other planets. I dont know nothing about this topic and could not use the information. But the planet does not blink, like it should. When you look very clos, you can see a short blink sometimes after the move, and thats it. BTW: Claculation took 11 sec ...

DaWatch
Works. But I cant read the japanese menue, so besides that you have a nice watch-screen you could not use it. Should be easy to convert to english.

DotDragon
Works perfectly. Theres is only some doubt if the speed is right. Its very difficult. Only when it says "too slow" I reach the third kind of barriers. But anyway its fun

SkyZoom
Works. To be honest I had problems identifie the thing after the start screen that moves around the moon. Then it shows the different symbols of the stars and you cann zoom them and see how there are named. With "menue" you can invert the screen colors. For all those functions, maybe a bigger delay is needed, sometime one time pressing a button works like two times pressing (same like in ruputris). Intersting: If you press invert during the watch-popup, this is also inverted. Problem: You easily get lost if you scroll beyond the horizon where are no stars.

UBeat
Works perfectly.

Zodiac
Does not work. You can select one of the sun-signs, it shows a picture of it and then a screen where you can enter the birthday. At this place you could not enter something or exit. You have to reboot.

Pong
Seems to work, but as I understood it is only for two players and of course I dont wanted to drive 700 Kilmoters to the next onhand-user :-)

RDosho
Seems to work, but I did not understand the meaning of this program. You see the time and something like a little chicken running to the toilet. Then you see the chicken waving to you. Maybe another thing only japanese people could enjoy ... :-)

RMine
Works perfectly. Very impressive explosion if you discover a mine ...

MMVView
Works

Another testimony from Dave BUNNELL :
As promised, I have done some application testing and I have put together a few notes on my impressions. Feel free to use any of this info for a FAQ.
*** App testing results ***
Note, when I say "Japanese menus" it actually means garbage characters. The Japanese font is not on the watch, I think.
Fish
- Works for the most part.
- EL cannot be turned on.
- Filer button does not switch to filer. However, Ctrl-Alt-Delete -- sorry -- Filer-Enter-Menu reboot combo will go to filer if just pushed for a sec.
- Enter key freezes display. Can recover with FEM above.
Kama
- Works well.
- Filer does not switch.
- El cannot be turned on.
Life
- Works pretty well.
- Have to hold JS down in run mode for it to run. This may be "As Designed".
- Filer Exits app (not switch app). Hitting filer again to try to "switch back" causes the pop-up watch to display and freeze the display (seconds do not tick). Filer again may fix, otherwise FEM is needed. Using menu to exit works cleanly.
Maziacs
- Does not work.
- Well, it appears everything works except the JS.
- Menu exits, I assume this is correct.
Meteor
- Everything seems to work. Japanese menus, so I could not test everything.
Pac Man (big)
- Works well.
- Filer, Enter, and EL do nothing when game is running.
R-Mine
- Works great! And I am a big Winmine fan.
Ruputris
- I believe it works as designed, so my comments are probably not onHand specific. (Except EL)
- EL does not work.
- JS up to rotate processing is hard to use. Single "bump" does not rotate. Holding for any length of time "spins" the blocks, so you end up with a random direction. JS processing should be something like: If(up) then {rotate, init delay(1/8sec)}; while (delay) {ignore up}.
- Once you can do the game it's too slow. If there is "speed up" processing then I have not seen it. It could you a feature where the blocks fall faster.
Tower of Monster
- Everything works. Japanese menus makes it useless.
Zodiac
- Does not work.
- After selecting a sign, the screen freezes and FEM is needed.

*** PC Software ***
CompanionLink with Outlook 97.
-Address: The FIRST category in the category list must match one of the categories configured for CampanionLink or it will not export. You can have additional categories on an item as long as the first one matches. None of the mapped fields (such as Business 2) go to the memo field.
- Schedule: I can export and import the file ok, But if I change an event on the onHand scheduler it crashes. I will be testing more. Exceptions to repeating events do not work on onHand. The deleted date still shows up.

*** onHand apps ***
- The PC Link IR (IrDA) caused a system error and required a FEM. After using the CD Recover S/W to reload system files everything worked great. IR link to my laptop is great.
- One of the apps (I don't remember which) gave me what I consider qualifies as one of the top 10 most useless error messages. It was "Unknown error found in an unknown file."

*** First Impressions (with some DataLink 150 comparisons) ***
- Not too big. Of course smaller would be better. I've ended up wearing the watch on the right side of my left wrist so I do not have to twist my arm to use it.
- I have big wrists and the band is _just_ barely long enough. I will have to find a new band. But thanks to Anton's email (I think), I'll take the docking station with me make sure the new band works with it. For me, the band wit MUCH better than the one that came with the DL150 since it didn't have a chance of fitting on my wrist.
- The display is harder to read than I expected. Both with or without a light. Ok in bright light or dark with EL conditions. I like low light conditions, which is the worse for onHand. DL150 wins on this feature.
- Navigating with the JS is much better than I expected (for menu's, keyboards are another matter). I believe that they have done pretty good job designed a JS based UI.
- Very disappointed in the speaker sound. Not NEARLY as loud as the DataLink. I could usually count on the DL alarm getting through my headphones at work. However, maybe it can be made louder???
- The case HAS to have protection. I'm looking for Crystal Clear tape now. Bad choice on their part. DL150 wins again.
All that being said, I am very happy with the onHand. Being a codehead (I write drivers for a living), I am looking forward to being able to enhance the functionality of the onHand PIM. I will probably not use the DL150 very much anymore, except in harsh environments. It's wonderful that I can keep everything in Outlook and download to either watch as needed. At think point, my biggest complaint with onHand is that they went cheap on the materials. A plastic screen on a PIM of any size is in excusable.
